About the contest

The winners of the contest will be able to join the events of the youth track of the conference: “Countries of the world: youth initiatives for sustainable development”.

Students are invited to participate in the work of the expert platform on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as in discussions with public authorities and the scientific and professional community.

The best papers will be published in a collection indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).

The main topic of the conference and contest in 2024: THE PATH OF LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN COUNTRIES TOWARDS THE 17 SDGs: an integrated approach.

Who can participate in the contest:

  • university students from all over Russia: those pursuing bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and specialized degrees in various fields of study and educational formats based on the recommendation of their supervisors;
  • individually and in a team (no more than 3 people).

Important: each student or a student team can only make one submission for the contest.

What should the contest paper include?

Paper format — two options are provided:

  • a contest research paper of up to 30 A4 pages;
  • report up to 6 A4 pages.

The substantive part of the paper

Contest paper:

  • The paper aims to address certain challenges, tasks, and solutions within the framework of specific SDGs;
  • It includes an analysis and comparison of the main positions, indicators, development prospects and ways to achieve the SDGs in Latin America and the Caribbean in comparison with countries in other regions of the world.

The paper's results should formulate conclusions, suggestions, and recommendations for a cooperation strategy to achieve the SDGs.

What should I write about?

  • On one or more related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the context of Latin America, the Caribbean or countries in other regions of the world, interstate unions.
  • On the prospects for cooperation and the development of strategies and partnership models for: on improving the situation in the thematic area studied by the SDGs; expanding programs for sustainable development of the analyzed states, including in the context of political, economic, scientific, technological, socio-cultural and other changes.

Stages of the contest and dates

  • Submission of entries.

  • Stage I — Distant selection of submitted papers.

  • Stage II — Selection of papers based on the commission's review of student presentations.

  • Announcement of the results.

  • Holding the International Scientific Conference “For the Sustainable Development of Civilization: Cooperation, Science, Education, Technology. The path of Latin American and Caribbean countries towards the 17 SDGs: an integrated approach”.

  • Get started: both the RUDN contest and UN initiative call to action - to conduct research and share your findings on the RUDN expert platform, aimed at enhancing our planet's well-being. For the first time, a dedicated track for young scientists and students has been introduced at the conference for presenting reports and sharing experiences.
